Right, so, just as a reminder, Facebook group for Ask Ally is still out there, under “Ask Ally: The Facebook Takeover” – look it up and add, it can be a faster way of sending in questions, or a more recognizable way to hear all of the new news.

08/05/2009: Bahahahahahahaha!

Ahahahahaha… hahahahaha… haaa… oh god. OH GOD. I am such an idiot. Sometimes I think that because I can use big words and walk while chewing gum at the same time that I might be reasonably intelligent, but NO. I just forgot how my own goddamned new-page was structured. That’s how long it’s been since I even visited this page. So I had to add a note at the bottom, which is 100% intended for myself, since somehow I imgine no one else would be that genuinely stupid. Nifty.

Also, apparently nothing newsworthy happened to me in the last year. More fantastic!

I just went to a conference, finished a Master’s program, got published (well, sort of), moved to Edinburgh, started a PhD, got a chest infection, met Judith Halberstam with a chest infection, had my first Christmas away from home, wrote a chapter and outline for the PhD, worked as a website editor for six months, was asked to be an editor for an online postgraduate journal, applied to work as a TA, submitted PhD work for review, made monumental career decisions, was permitted to continue to the second year of a PhD, moved house, went home again after a year and a half’s absence, was offered a job as a TA, went to Ottawa, went to a good friend’s wedding in Canterbury, returned to Edinburgh, and have spent the last several weeks procrastinating in such a way that I’ve actually questioned whether I should be doing this degree, seeing as how I don’t actually seem to be doing anything for it anymore. (For the time being I am not making that monumental life decision. One in six months is enough for me.). NOPE. Nothing of note. Not a damned thing.

The greatest bit? No one gives a flying fcuk. I can, with almost complete confidence, guarantee anyone who asks that not a single person will have even tried to see if there was any news to be had in the entirety of the last year. Why do I update now? I am bored.

I have meant to start an actual running blog about my life. Perhaps I shall make this it, since it seems safe enough that any secrets I here divulge will remain secreted away in this dusty, invisible niche in the World Wide Web…

Update: Mother fuck, I am so useless that I managed to stick this post smack dab in the middle of all of the other posts. PRIMO!

Did I mention that I am a goddamned genius? The kind of genius that the other geniuses mock, who isn’t allowed into MENSA.

07/04/08: NEW SITE THEME!

It’s rockin’. Did I get anything written? Nope. I did, however, waste hours in re-editing some of the too-long posts, and truncating the initial views (tantalizing previews are sexier).

07/01/08: Well, several months later and absolutely dick all has happened that would interest you, unless you care about my personal life (trust me, you don’t). Just the usual – I don’t update as often as I should, often a month or more will pass before I realise that I should really update, and then the process repeats itself.

The only thing that might be new is that I would like to start actually blogging a bit – still humourous, but not only in response to questions. This is because sometimes I will think of something funny to write, or hear about something I’d like to comment on in a funny way, and feel restricted because no questions are relevant. So questions are still important, please send them! But also I will add my own things (like impromptu poetry).

01/26/08: So, about 20 days ago I wrote in, full of optimism and fully intending to update more. Didn’t happen! Think I’ll blog about it. Wait, I am! Wicked.

News is I’m back in Scotland – which is good news for them, and bad news for Canada. And also, in a way, bad news for me, since Strombo neglected me, phone-wise. However, I know that in a couple of weeks my favourite Canuck TV man will be in London… In related news, I hallucinated while watching the Hour over the holidays. At least, I suspect that I did, and no one can confirm otherwise.

01/07/08: It’s 12:50 in the morning here in Ontario, and after two weeks of outrageousness I think things are settling down… for about eight hours while I sleep. Then I am sorry to say that after the previous hiatus (caused by Christmas etc. and a project which needs to be mailed off to Scotland tomorrow morning) I am running away for another week – up “north” for a bit then to Ottawa to visit the apparent multitude of my friends that have gathered there (in this case ‘multitude’ means ‘five’).

However, tomorrow night I might address another pressing question (I’ve got a few saved up) before I head off. Also, I am slowly coming to the realization that no one reads this news-update… ever! So it really doesn’t matter.
